ABOUT THE JOB
MU Health Care and the University of Missouri-Columbia (MU) School
of Medicine's Department of Radiation Oncology are seeking an
academically driven Therapeutic Medical Physicist to join our
dynamic and expanding team. This position offers the unique
opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge clinical care, innovative
research, and education in a collaborative academic health
system.
Our Ellis Fischel Cancer Center is home to state-of-the-art
radiotherapy technologies, including Varian TrueBeam systems for
precision radiotherapy and Varian Ethos for adaptive radiation
therapy. These advanced systems allow us to deliver a full spectrum
of treatments, including image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT),
intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), stereotactic body
radiotherapy (SBRT), brachytherapy (HDR and LDR), total body
irradiation (TBI), and stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS).
As part of our strategic growth, we are developing Centers of
Excellence for SRS and SBRT and are actively planning to establish
residency programs in both radiation oncology and medical physics.
These efforts demonstrate our commitment to education, innovation,
and advancing patient care.
This position provides an unparalleled research environment
centered around the Roy Blunt NextGen Precision Health Building,
fostering interdisciplinary collaboration. Resources include
advanced imaging facilities, the FLASHKNiFE unit for ultra-high
dose rate (UHDR) radiotherapy research, and the Hellbender
High-Performance Computing Cluster for artificial intelligence and
data science applications. Additionally, our collaboration with the
Missouri University Research Reactor (MURR) enables groundbreaking
radiopharmaceutical research, bridging basic science with clinical
applications.
In this role, you will engage in varied responsibilities, including
clinical operations, quality assurance, equipment calibration,
research, and teaching. You will also have the opportunity to lead
innovative projects that redefine cancer care, all while working
within a supportive, multidisciplinary environment.
